I'm getting lazy curating the photographs. I've included a sampling here, but scroll to the very bottom and click on the links for the complete full-resolution online repositories -- who knows how long they will persist, though. Location, Location, Location!
The Washington Monument itself.
This year we placed invitation signs on the Appalachian Trail, at the museum, and the rest room. Setting Up
The famous Potato Launcher; preparing for the Rocket Launcher assembly.

W4TG coaching AG6DF and KC3LUM at the "Get On The Air" (GOTA) station.
Ops AJ1DM, WA3PYU and N2AW.
Ops WA3MJZ and AJ1DM; we used fans this year because the temperature was in the 90's.
Ops NC3Y and N2DA -- our top QSO-getter this year in the overnight shift. Shelter views
Our weekend home. Frank notes that this was a particularly hot weekend! It reached 98 degrees on Saturday (high temp at 5:53 pm) and Sunday it got to 94 degrees. The rigs were decreasing power until we realized it and put on some fans. We went with three transmitters: ![]() ![]() QSO's: 1695 cw/digital x 2 = 3390
Congratulations to Craig who in a photo finish bested Bob (by 4 QSO's) as our top operator! Look at the Operators worksheet in the Logs & Analysis spreadsheet for breakdowns by band, mode, operator, bonus point allocation, pie charts, QSO rates, and more (operator rankings including bonus points differ slightly). The year-to-year comparison worksheet is updated. --- Results from December 2024 QST --- Our score was down somewhat. Maybe we can blame Al, who had to stay home sick (though his equipment and van attended)! See the RARC Home Page and the year-to-year worksheet in the spreadsheet for comparisons.
We scored 5th out of 323 (98.76 percentile) in the 3A category (same as last year). We had the high score in MDC but second in the Atlantic Division (DEL, MDC, EPA, WPA, NNY, WNY, SNJ) -- again, same as last year. Our highest rank was third in 2020. (The overall 3A high score was 16,234 -- ours was 12,028)
